Depression Treatment Program Cincinnati OH
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression is one of the most common mental health diagnoses in the United States. Roughly 21 million American adults reported having at least one depressive episode in 2020. A depression treatment program can help you manage your symptoms to achieve your goals.
Depression can feel situational, brought on by a distressing event, such as divorce, loss, or an unexpected and unwanted change. Depression can feel persistent, something that you’ve lived with your entire life. For some, depression is seasonal, or it may be experienced in combination with another mental health diagnosis, such as bipolar disorder.
Feeling sad during difficult times is normal, but when the sadness starts to interfere with your relationships, your work, and your well-being, or when you turn to drugs or alcohol to address it, New Horizons Depression Treatment Center Cincinnati OH is here to help. Spotting the symptoms of depression can be difficult, but ensuring someone struggling with this disorder gets help is vital to their well-being.
Symptoms of depression include:
- Anger and agitation
- Feelings of guilt
- Inability to concentrate
- Wanting to sleep all the time or not sleeping enough
- Appetite disturbances and unintentional weight loss or weight gain
- Isolation and avoidance
- Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness
- Thoughts of suicide
If you or someone you care about is having suicidal thoughts, call emergency services or get mental health treatment immediately.
A depression treatment program can help explore these feelings and build coping skills to manage them when they arise. Through group and individual therapy, major steps can be taken to control emotional reactions and develop resiliency through challenging events. Without treatment, someone with depression could easily feed their negative emotions with unhealthy behaviors, leading them down a path that causes more challenges in their life.
What to Expect from New Horizons Recovery Centers
Our depression treatment program begins with an in-depth assessment, which looks at the physical, emotional, and psychological functioning of the client. Once the assessment is complete, the clinician and the client work together to identify treatment goals and develop a treatment plan that lays out the steps needed to reach those goals and achieve sustained change.
Because each person experiences depression in his or her own way, these customized treatment plans take into account each client’s unique circumstances and history. We explore trauma, abandonment, attachment, addiction, relationship, and family issues, as well as all other factors negatively impacting the client’s well-being.
During treatment, we set clear expectations and intentions:
- All clients are evaluated and meet regularly with a psychiatric professional who may prescribe medications.
- All clients meet with a therapist weekly and participate in psychoeducational and processing groups on a daily basis.
- In both individual and group therapy, clients will learn healthy and effective coping skills based on a variety of treatment methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and internal family systems.
- During processing groups, clients will explore trauma, family relationships, and other factors that negatively impact their well-being.
New Horizons Recovery Centers offers both a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which is five days per week, five hours per day, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which is either three or five mornings per weeks.
Clients at New Horizons Recovery can also take advantage of a robust alumni program.
